What is RAD?

Rapid Advanced Delivery (RAD) is a lipid nanoparticle suspension designed to provide a fast onset of effect and improve the absorption of cannabinoids, like THC and CBD, in the body.

What is a lipid nanoparticle?

Lipid nanoparticles are a powerful tool used in the field of drug delivery to effectively transport medication throughout the body and maximize its therapeutic potential. Lipid nanoparticles are used in a wide range of medications, including vaccines and cancer therapies. RAD lipid nanoparticles are tiny fat (lipid) droplets filled with cannabinoids. The fatty core is composed of vegetable-derived lipids which mimic natural dietary fats and protect the cannabinoids from the harsh environment of the body. Each droplet is extremely small, averaging between 300-400 nanometers in diameter - approximately 300 times smaller than a grain of sand. Why RAD?

The problem with traditional cannabis edibles:

When you swallow a cannabis-infused edible, the cannabinoids must travel through the harsh environment of the digestive system before it can be absorbed into bloodstream and provide a therapeutic effect. On average, only 6% of orally consumed THC is absorbed by the body. The degree of absorption can differ significantly based upon an individual’s diet, time of last meal, and genetics. This variable absorption, in addition to long onset times, can make it difficult for patients to dose effectively with edibles.

Lipid nanoparticles improve absorption:

Lipid nanoparticles, like RAD, can improve the bioavailability (absorption) of cannabinoids through several mechanisms, including oral mucosal absorption and lymphatic uptake. The small size of lipid nanoparticles allows them to be easily absorbed through mucosal tissues, such as the inside of your cheeks and under your tongue. This means that nanoparticles suspensions, like RAD, can begin working even before you swallow, providing rapid onset in as little as 15 minutes. This route also avoids the complex digestive system and the effects that diet can have on absorption of the cannabinoids, providing a more consistent therapeutic effect.
